Research shows that many of the present day data centres make use of power in an ineffective way which wastes the power. A project was conducted recently in 2008 in California to show the dependency and power saving of an alternate delivery system of power that makes use of the current server directly as compare to the present day AD power.  The research of the study conducted revealed that:

• DC power stations from the study promised a gain of 5% - 7%, this of course was no inclusive of reduction in power in the cooling loads. This was achieved by eliminating conventional conversion steps.

• The research showed that how the current standard Ac powering solutions can be replaced by servers with DC power, for data centres.

• When it came to functionality, the servers with DC power did not show constraints in performance as in comparison to servers with AC power.

The project conducted concluded that there are certain areas, which need to follow up concerning about the future of the DC powering. One of the areas of discussion was the use of the sources of renewable energy along with the DC powering. This could be the destiny of the green web hosting for the industry. Industry is showing increased curiosity in the main concept of green web hosting and there are few early takers of the technology already in the market who wants to experiment for the sake of environment and also for the sake of energy gain. Companies in Japan and Europe have come together to come with the standard voltage for the connectors that would empower the similar kind of tools to be distributed in all parts of the world without the problem of conversion.

People are looking towards the DC server power because it will help them cut cost in the longer run. Furthermore, the power which is mostly doomed in the process will be saved in the great amount of energy saving because the process of conversion facilities operates constantly. The telecommunication company is already showing great amount of reliability with use of the DC power. At present, only few web hosting providers are making use of the Dc power but research in the topic can bring about a green web hosting revolution in the industry for the betterment of the society in the longer run.

To conclude with the existence and complete success of the use of DC power still needs some research into the subject matter before it gets acknowledged as a real time alternative to the present AC powered servers overall in the market. As per the promised shows by the project Dc power has the potential to become the green web hosting solution resulting into the cost saving, efficiency, energy saving and greener planet in the long run for the industry which is grievously relying on the use of power supply. Government from around the world should encourage research into the matter to bring about a green web hosting revolution in the web industry which would be good for the planet.
